mjourdan automatically follow all known domains, a part from the blocked ones
automatically follow all domains listed somewhere
agree, and I already writed this in the backend.
mjourdan Probably the first one isn't a good idea, because of really low efficiency (many pods to follow for very little added content).
there isn't a efficiency problem, follow a pod only cost an entry in the db and there is less than 200 pods out there (the last time in checked)
mjourdan collaboratively building indexes with holders of other pods sharing the same interests
this can be part of the pods recommendation system. We could create a tag system. But I think its out of the scope of what we are speaking here.
mjourdan In my opinion it would defeat it's purpose if it didn't make content appear in the existing sections.
agree, but we could add a new session : global feed, personal feed, pod feed (only local pod content)
mjourdan If I understand correctly, the difference would be that a followed pod would have to push information as defined by the activitypub protocol, while a simple public index would authorize others to access content
the difference is that a pod without instance follow enabled would not accept pod follow request automatically. I'm not sure about this. I said before I agreed we have enough moderation tools but now I think it doesn't cost must to add this option and some people might like to be able to reject automatically incoming pod follow request and still be reachable for library follow.
mjourdan To me the answer is not trivial. I worry it adds complexity, as we would basically need instance pages and cards for users to browse and follow.
Yes, but we could limit the feature to the folllow part. Because you can browse a remote pod..in the remote pod ^^. The follow feature could only consist to add the domain follow to the /content/remote
page. So we would only need to change this page and add a new card for domain with some statistics on it, maybe tags also if we want to implement this. I think it would be a great feature.
mjourdan lso, as of now, followed libraries content do not appear in people's libraries. Their content appears in the "explore" view instead. This is perhaps something we would like to change, as part of easing library management.
Totally agree on that. But this need some important design. There would be : my personal library, my follows (with my library included ?), my pod feed, the global feed ?
There is so much options we could think to create a customizable feed : a menu where you select what you want to see I the feed ? the fw generate it for you.
