This is the email that will be sent to the member of the collective, but since it can be intersting to anyone involved in the community, I'm sharing it here as well.

You are receiving this email because you're a Funkwhale Collective member, even if your membership isn't paid currently.

We'll have our next yearly General Assembly soon, on September 19th, 19:30 CEST (Central European Summer Time). It will happen on Mattermost, a messaging platform: https://hub.funkwhale.audio/funkwhale/channels/general-assembly-2022. You'll need to create an account if you don't already have one.

Since I stepped down as a project maintainer in 2020, a lot has happened in the background to ensure transfer of responsibilities and assets within the collective and to ensure Funkwhale and its community continue to thrive.

The Funkwhale Collective legal entity was originally built as a French association to hold the collective assets and give us a framework to make important decisions.

While the association served its purpose, it also introduced several heavy or inflexible procedures and constraints that didn't work in practice and made it harder for newcomers to get involved.

For this reason, and following the conclusions of the 2021 assembly, we intend this General Assembly to be the last. The association assets have been transfered to Tech Cultivation, another entity that will provide the necessary legal framework without the heavy-lifting and costs of our current status.
