Good evening everyone,
I started using Funkwhale a couple years ago. I had a lot of free time back then, I wanted to learn how to self host services and I was looking a way to store music online in a more or less affordable way. I am not a big listener so it seemed to me that Funkwhale was a non-critical service and a good starting point.
I was quite amazed as how well-written the documentation was (and still is). The balance between technical details and abstractions was perfect for me.
I joined when agate was still on board; I noticed since the beginning how the community aimed to great standards, both on its interaction and the way they communicate outward.
During the lockdowns in my country, I started to listen much more to music, as I was alone in my flat. I started to tip the funkwhale collective with some money, as it was important to me for people having a way to experience music, a quite fundamental human behaviour, without relying on a shady corporation.
I now have a little less free time, my pod is broken sometimes, but my sporadic interactions with the community were always a pleasure, so I figured out I could say hi 🙂
