Salut @how! Hah, I live in Brussels. What is that THX event you refer to? I'm always happy to learn about new open source-related events 🙂
Regarding the asset guidelines: that discussion got out of hand quickly ☹️
I understand your concerns @gcrk, but I reckon a public reply to a post where a user introduces themselves isn't the best way to go. And I'd agree with @how that a threat in kind words is still a threat. Then again, nobody's perfect and mistakes like this can happen.
@how If I may, I think that you've been active in Funkwhale before via https://matrix.to/#/@how:public.cat and https://governance.funkwhale.audio/u/hellekin, right? So the most important places with contributions were actually perfectly fine.
I understand it's weird that it suddenly becomes a problem now a new tool is used. But maybe it was just an oversight nobody said anything about its use on GitLab.
You clearly don't agree with the policy - that was apparently decided upon by the community - so why not use your rights to propose a change to those rules, as @gcrk suggested? I think they were designed to protect the community from individuals trying to do harm to the project and/or community. I trust that's not the case here. It is a bit far-fetched, but I get that a problem could arise in future if someone else does start to abuse the logo and refers to other cases (like this one) to claim that they have the full right to do so.
Please note that I consider myself just an outsider, and I'm just trying to help the community by trying to bring together different perspectives/facilitate discussion.
