Hi everyone o/
We've had a few issues reported over the last few months regarding our Apache configuration. As you probably know, the Funkwhale team works mostly with Nginx. Apache has always been a secondary consideration as nobody on the team uses it day-to-day. It was originally added as a community-supported template, and hasn't really seen much love since.
Given that shipping an incomplete or poorly maintained configuration file introduces security risks and poor user experience, we are considering dropping maintenance of Apache altogether to focus our efforts on maintaining our more widely used Nginx configuration. This would allow us to maintain a good baseline and reduce the support burden of troubleshooting for a server we're not familiar with.
Before we have that discussion, we'd like to see if anyone in the community is willing to pick up Apache maintenance. We understand there are admins who prefer Apache or are integrating Funkwhale with an existing Apache setup, so the ideal situation would be having someone who understands Apache well enough to keep the template up-to-date with the Nginx configuration supported by the core team.
If anyone wants to volunteer, please let us know here 😃
