Cannot View Artists

I'm on funkwhale 1.3.1 now.
I've encountered an odd problem where I can't view the Artists list, but I can see the Albums list and I can play music.
This happened first in Chrome, I switched to Edge and the problem wasn't present there so I carried on in that browser thinking that Chrome had changed something, until I'd tagged some artists and it started to happen again in Edge as well.
Clearing side data doesn't fix the problem.
The API container reports this problem:

Any ideas? Let me know if you need more information.

Thanks for reporting the issue.

Could you provide me the browser console window? You can open it by pressing F12.
Also: could you provide me a screenshot of the Network tab from the same window?

Occasionally I can view the artists, but it periodically won't work, in general it seems slower than it used to before 1.3.

I've already started working on a MR that should fix that behavior. Unfortunately while doing so, I stumbled upon a bug in upstream that prevents me from shipping the MR. I've already reported it and proposed a PR that would solve it so it's a matter of time until they fix it.

The fix for your issue will most likely be available in next patch version of Funkwhale.

Can you tell me if you're opening the page from a saved URL like bookmarks?
Does the URL contain ordering=+name in the query string?

If so, then please update the saved URL and remove the + sign after. If the URL you're connecting to does not have the ordering query parameter, then please change the ordering in the UI twice.

Ah cool no worries, it's not the biggest problem in the world so I can live with it for a time 🙂

Generally I just use a pinned tab which I use, but typing in the URL directly for my instance then clicking artists gives the problem still.

When I get the problem it looks like this (no parameters in the URL):

As you point out yea it works when you change the artist order twice, and then that made me think of directly visiting https://funkwhale.domain.xyz/library/artists/?ordering=name which works fine.
