Where/How does Funkwhale federate?

Hi, I'm new to Funkwhale, just set up my own instance. I guess I'm not sure about what the actual use cases are for federation. I uploaded my personal EP and added it to a collection here: https://fourthrail.cc/federation/music/libraries/01a059d9-b230-4a8a-bebd-e303701402a7

How do I promote this on my Mastodon instance? What exactly gets posted via ActivityPub by Funkwhale?

Looking more into this, I guess the idea is more to listen to music from other Funkwhale instances than to federate to Mastodon/etc. Is that right?

I was able to follow my Funkwhale user from Mastodon. What can I expect the Funkwhale user to publish? Also, I'm not able to follow users on other public Funkwhale instances from within Funkwhale. When I type the user address into the search, and click "Federated" I get this:

This happens even if I prefix the user name with an "@". The user is https://mizik.o-k-i.net/@oki/ by the way.

If you want to announce new uploads to your followers - you need to use a channel.

Libraries are Funkwhale exclusive things and can be exchanged between servers - but its not available in AP.

Following users in Funkwhale isn't possible right now. We are considering more social features in the future, but we are not there yet.

Thanks for the reply! I couldn't see how to create a channel, just how to follow one, and I don't know where to get links to channels.
