As you probably already noticed we are in the process of considering shutting the association down and migrating the Funkwhale Collective to a more lightweight framework to work with. I am in discussion with a German Charity called Center for the Cultivation of Technologie https://techcultivation.org/ for a while now and had a discussion with them today.
Now I want to write down all the facts and let you decide if thats something we want. Please note, that this decision needs to be finalized by a General Assembly, so for now this is just a way for us to collect your feedback.
So, Techcultivation has offered to manage our financial assets. They are a charity, which means they are able to collect charity donations, which has some tax advantages. Thats currently not possible. They will collect and manage all our money, pay our bills and can even hire someone to work on Funkwhale in the future. For all those services, they take a fee of 10% (If we already pay fees for other platforms, eg opencollective or betterplace, they only charge the difference). I just checked, currently we already have some fees to pay: Our bank account was about 5% of our donations in 2021, we won't need to pay this in the future, because its already included in techcultivation.
