Hi folks, I'm Reinhard and I'm a 42 year old software developer from near Nuremberg, Germany. My pronouns are he/him and I'm a father to a 1.5 years old daughter, which takes a lot of my time, as you can imagine.
I've quit most social networks during the last years and I'm currently only active on Mastodon - which is were I learned about Funkwhale, as well. I've been using a selfhosted Funkwhale instance for quite sometime now and I like it a lot. On my phone, I used Otter as a client application, and for some time now I was worried about the lack of activity in development there. Which is why I got curious how that app could be built and if it would be possible to contribute something to development there.
What makes me want to contribute even more is the welcoming spirit of the Funkwhale community. I also like and fully support the Code Of Conduct.
I've been developing software professtionally since around 2007, mostly with a JVM background (mostly Java and recently a lot of Kotlin as well), but I've also worked with other languages like Javascript and Python. I have some knowledge with (dev)ops related topics as well. In the past I have contributed to open source projects here and there but I have not been involved with a project for a longer time. So I hope Funkwhale-Android will be an opportunity for me to add something meaningful to the community.
Cheers, I look forward to getting to know all of you better!
