At first, Funkwhale is a software to build a federated publication platform. This means if you want to upload your content and make it available, you need to find yourself an so called instance or pod, where Funkwhale is installed and where you can upload your podcast. We are hosting https://open.audio, which is welcoming people sharing their podcasts for free iirc.

You can upload your episodes there.
Since we are using open standards, you will get an RSS feed, which might be the go-to solution to distribute your content also on itunes, spotify and all those other commercial, gated platforms. But I don't know about them 😃
